‘This is Fascism!’ Joe Scarborough Slams GOP for Embracing Violence After Eric Greitens’‘RINO Hunting’ Video

Joe Scarborough blasted the rise of “fascism” in the Republican Party as he ripped into Eric Greitens’ new ad calling on supporters to grab their guns and hunt down political enemies.

The ad came up Tuesday on Morning Joe as Scarborough remarked that the “Trump wing” of the GOP has taken up the use of “violent threats, violent imagery, and violence itself in a way that shows it’s a fascist movement.” He based his statement on Greitens since the disgraced former governor-turned-Missouri Republican Senate candidate just released a campaign video where he and a bunch of armed men break into a house and while calling for viewers to “Join the MAGA crew, get a RINO (Republican in Name Only) hunting permit.”

As Mika Brzezinski noted the social media crackdown on Greitens’ video, Scarborough said they wouldn’t air it on the show “because it’s too violent.” Scarborough snarked at the “really stupid people” who use the term “RINO” against their political foes, and he continued to slam Greitens’ insinuation of hunting down Republicans insufficiently loyal to former President Donald Trump.

“Again, this is fascism!” Scarborough said. “I tried to bring this up, and there were a couple people being polite yesterday going, ‘well, you know, maybe we shouldn’t call it fascism. I don’t know whether it is fascism.’ It’s fascism! This is using violence and violent imagery to basically tell people, ‘Vote for me. A civil war is coming’… It’s where the Republican Party is right now. Every Republican needs to call this out unless they want fascism to continue to rise in their party.”

Benito Mussolini would be proud,” Eugene Robinson agreed while asking if Greiten’s video amounted to a “terroristic threat.” Scarborough followed up on that by reflecting on when Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) posted an image of herself holding a gun and promising to “go on the offense” against the “socialists.”

“We’re talking about the rise of American fascism,” Scarborough concluded. “You can look at January 6th. You can look at ads like this. You can look at the continued use of violence and imagery. You can look at Donald Trump telling his audience members to beat up people in the audience that disagree with him. It’s fascism.”
